Wheadon’s Wins in the World Gin Awards 2020

We’re delighted to announce that Wheadon’s Gin’s Rock Samphire and Pink Grapefruit infusion has scooped a gold medal and been awarded Best Channel Island Contemporary Style Gin in the 2020 World Gin Awards! Hurrah! This means that Mr W’s first (and flagship) expression will now move forward to the next stage of judging, for the best gin in each category and the World’s Best Gin.

The World Gin Awards, presented by TheDrinksReport.com, select the very best gins in the internationally recognised gin styles (contemporary style gin, London dry gin, classic gin, compound gin, matured gin, flavoured gin, navy gin, old Tom gin, genever, signature botanical and sloe gin). The first round of judging took place at London’s The Caledonian Club, with an expert international panel made up of leading journalists, specialist drinks retailers and industry experts tasting each gin within a style category to determine national winners. Round two (the winners of which are announced in mid-February) take the national winners and taste them against each other to award an overall style winner, before these winners are compared to select the World’s Best Gin (announced 20th February, 2020). We are delighted to have won the regional round and get a gold medal for Guernsey, and are now looking forward, with nervous anticipation, to the next round of judging.

Wish us luck, and in the meantime why not toast our success with a world-class Wheadon’s and tonic?
