The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, and Wheadon's Gin

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Wheadon’s Gin is the official gin partner for the release of the film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which will be in cinemas on 20th April.

The film tells the story of author Juliet Ashton, whose correspondence with the members of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society immediately after the end of WWII sparks the idea for her next book. Wishing to tell the story of the society’s experiences of Nazi occupied Guernsey and how the book club lifted spirits and kept it’s members going through these difficult times, Juliet travels to Guernsey and falls for the island's beauty, the spirit of the locals and, of course, one of Guernsey's handsome men.  The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is a story that celebrates books and the people who love them; how books can be a source of refuge, solace and community during the hardest of times, and how they can provide a common bond between the most unlikely of neighbours.

Directed by Bafta winner Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and featuring an all-star cast that sees many of the cast of Downton Abbey reunite on the silver screen, we are expecting The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society to be a domestic hit across the UK this spring, coinciding wonderfully with the 2018 Channel Islands Heritage Festival which this year has a focus on our island’s occupation and liberation.
